# Building Goal and KPI Tracking Into Farm Reports

Goals & KPI tracking in Watershed. Set a goal on any visual, choose from five goal types including a new between option for range-based targets, scope each goal to a time window, location, or generation, and see live progress in a dedicated table, all inside the report itself.

 

 

Understanding how your team is tracking against production, health, and operational goals should be simple. But teams working across mortality, harvest weight, feed conversion, lice levels, and everything else happening on a farm are handling a lot of moving parts, and are still expected to know these numbers intimately.

Honestly, it’s not always that easy (or fun) to figure out where you sit against every goal.

We built Goals & KPI Tracking in Watershed to make that part as straightforward as possible, so anyone can quickly put a metric into context and understand how it’s progressing.

 

Track goals across any metric

You can now add a goal to any visual already built in a Watershed report. Choose the metric you want to track, give the goal a name, select how Watershed should measure it, and enter the target value. Goals can be configured as greater than or equal to, greater than, less than or equal to, less than, or between. Once the goal is added, it stays connected to the visual and appears alongside the metric it is measuring.

This means anyone on your team opening the report can immediately see how the result compares with the target, without needing to remember the number or look somewhere else before the chart makes sense.

 

Set goals for specific sites or generations

We know that not every site or generation should be measured against the same target. Users can apply a goal across any location included in a visual or scope it down to a specific site, cage, or generation.

This allows reports to show performance across the broader operation while keeping each goal connected to the entities where it actually applies. Separate generations can have different harvest-weight targets without requiring separate reports, while a site operating under a different production plan can have its own threshold without changing the target used everywhere else.

This way, your report stays consolidated, but the goals can stay specific.

 

Control when a goal is active

We also know that some goals apply continuously, while others only matter during a specific period. A great example of this is tracking lice levels in Norway at different regulatory periods. In this case, users can keep a goal active at all times or schedule it for a defined window, either once or on a recurring annual basis.

This helps when a target only applies during part of a production cycle, a seasonal period, or a specific reporting window. Instead of leaving the same threshold active indefinitely, you can define exactly when Watershed should use it to evaluate performance.

## Track goals within a range

Not every metric is managed against one ceiling or one floor. Harvest weight may need to stay within a planned window, feed conversion may have an acceptable operating range, and other metrics may become important when they move too far in either direction.

The new between goal type allows you to set an upper and lower target together. Watershed then checks each result against the full range and shows when performance falls outside either side of it. Instead of creating two separate thresholds and trying to interpret them together, you can track the complete range as one goal.

## Add multiple goals to the same visual

Sometimes one goal is just not enough. You may want to track an internal operating target alongside a higher warning threshold, or show one level that deserves attention and another that requires escalation. You can add multiple goals to the same visual and give each one its own name and color. Anyone viewing the report can show all goals together or isolate a specific one from the dropdown. This makes it clear what each line represents and where the current result sits against the different targets, without needing to build a separate chart for each threshold.

## Review progress across every goal you set

Every goal created in a report also appears in the Your Goals table. This gives you one place to review the current value against the target, how far the result is from the goal, and how many times the threshold has been surpassed during the reporting period.

That last part is important because the current value does not always tell the full story. A metric may be within target today but have crossed the threshold several times earlier in the period. Another may currently sit outside the target, but only by a small amount.

The table helps you quickly see which goals are progressing as expected, which have moved outside their target, and where someone may need to take a closer look. Instead of opening every chart one by one, you can start with the full picture and move directly to the metrics that need attention.

## Put any metric into context

Goals & KPI Tracking puts the target directly beside the data it applies to. You can define how the goal should be measured, where it applies, when it should be active, and whether performance should remain above, below, or within a target range.

More importantly, anyone opening the report can understand where the metric stands without needing extra context before the numbers become useful.
