Manolin has hired Agustín Piña as its first Chile-based employee, taking on the role of Country Lead. Piña will lead Manolin's commercial and partnership work across Chilean salmon farming, working directly with producers, suppliers, and researchers to expand adoption of Watershed and Harpoon in the region.
Piña is a veterinarian by training, with a background spanning aquaculture genetics and biotech product management, including work with genetic improvement programs for Chilean salmon and trout producers. He also writes regularly on aquaculture data topics, with a following among farm operators and suppliers across the Chilean industry.
Chile is the world's second-largest salmon producer, and its farms generate the same kind of fragmented, hard-to-compare data Manolin was built to work with: production records, treatment history, and environmental data spread across systems that don't talk to each other.
"I've said for years that the biggest gap in this industry isn't how much data we have, it's how far that data sits from the fish health manager. Data continues to build, but pulling clear insight out of fragmented systems is still a struggle when it comes to answering questions in real time. Closing that distance is the part of the job I care about most, and that's the work I'm excited to keep doing in Chile with Manolin," said Piña.

Piña will be based in Chile, working closely with the company's existing customers and partners across the region.
